Clients we have built for

01 · Who we are

We turn product ideas into dependable software

HummingByte is a team of software engineers based in Enugu, Nigeria. We work with startups and established businesses who need software built properly: thought through, tested, documented and deployed in a way their team can live with.

Most of our work sits where products meet infrastructure. We build the interface your customers use, the backend and APIs behind it, the database it depends on and the cloud environment it runs in. Because we handle the whole path to production, fewer things fall between the cracks.

  • End-to-end delivery

From architecture and interface design through deployment, monitoring and support.

  • Direct access to engineers

You speak to the people writing the code, not a chain of account managers.

  • Built in Africa, working globally

We collaborate remotely across time zones with agreed hours and clear communication.

More about HummingByte

What we build

02 · How we work

Engineering first, from the first conversation

Good software comes from understanding the problem, delivering in small working steps and planning for what happens after launch. That is how every HummingByte project runs.

Understand before we build

We map requirements, constraints, risks and existing systems first, so the architecture fits the problem rather than the other way round.

Ship small, working increments

Short iterations with a demo at the end of each one. Continuous integration from the first week means every change is tested and reviewed.

Built to be run, not just launched

Logging, monitoring, backups and documentation are part of the job. We hand over systems your team can operate with confidence.

03 · What we do

Thirteen services, four practice areas

Engage us for a single piece of work or the whole product. Every service is delivered by the same engineering team, so the pieces fit together.

  1. Core Development

Products your users touch: apps, websites, APIs and the systems behind them.

  2. Infrastructure & Operations

The data, cloud and operational foundations that keep software running.

  3. Quality & Support

Independent review, guidance and hands-on help for existing systems.

  4. Data & AI

Turning data into reporting, automation and carefully scoped AI prototypes.

04 · Technology

Our technology expertise includes the tools behind most of our client work

  • Python
  • Django
  • Node.js
  • React
  • Flutter
  • Go

Product names and logos belong to their owners. Listing a tool describes our experience, not a partnership.

05 · Engineering standards

The work you do not see matters most

These practices are part of every engagement. They are why our software is easier to change, safer to deploy and simpler to hand over.

Reviewed changes

Every change goes through a pull request and code review before it reaches the main branch.

Automated testing

Unit and integration tests run on every push, so regressions are caught before users see them.

Repeatable deployments

Scripted, versioned releases with a documented rollback path. No manual steps on production servers.

Security by default

TLS, secret management, least-privilege access, dependency updates and input validation from day one.

Observability

Structured logs, metrics, health checks and alerts, so problems are visible before they become outages.

Documentation and handover

Architecture notes, runbooks and API documentation that let your team own the system.

07 · Process

How a project comes together

A predictable path from first call to production, with room to adjust as we learn more about your users and your data.

  1. 01

    Discover and plan

Workshops and technical discovery to agree goals, users, constraints and a realistic roadmap with milestones.

  2. 02

    Design the system

Interface design, data models, API contracts and infrastructure choices, reviewed with you before build starts.

  3. 03

    Build and test

Iterative development with continuous integration, code review and a working demo at the end of each iteration.

  4. 04

    Launch and support

Automated deployment, monitoring, documentation and a support plan so the system keeps improving after launch.

09 · FAQ

Questions we hear often

Cannot find what you are looking for? Read the full FAQ or ask us directly.

What does HummingByte do?

We are a software engineering company. We design, build and maintain web applications, mobile apps, backends and APIs, and we set up and run the cloud infrastructure they depend on. We also help with data processing and practical AI prototypes.

How do I start a project with you?

Send us a message through the contact form or email [email protected]. We will arrange a short call to understand your goals and constraints, then send a written proposal with scope, milestones and cost.

How long does a typical project take?

It depends on scope. A focused marketing website often takes four to six weeks, and a custom web or mobile application typically takes two to four months for a first release. We agree timelines and milestones after discovery rather than guessing up front.

Which technologies do you use?

Our core stack includes Python and Django, Node.js, React and Next.js, React Native and Flutter, PostgreSQL and Redis, Docker, Nginx and Linux, and the major cloud providers. We recommend tools based on your requirements and your team, not habit.

Do you offer maintenance after launch?

Yes. Maintenance can cover security updates, dependency upgrades, monitoring, backups, bug fixes and small improvements. We agree the scope and response times in a support plan.

Will we own the code?

Yes. On final payment, ownership of the custom code we write for you transfers to you, as set out in our terms. We use your repositories where possible so you have full access throughout.
